What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a non‑invasive cosmetic treatment that uses concentrated light energy to target and destroy hair follicles at the root. The pigment in the hair absorbs the laser energy, which damages the follicle and significantly reduces future hair growth without affecting the surrounding skin that can replace shaving, waxing, plucking and electrolysis.

1. Am I a good candidate for this treatment? / Will this treatment work for me?

Laser hair removal is for individuals who want to permanently reduce unwanted hair on their face or body through laser treatments because they’re tired of the conventional methods that only yield temporary results.

For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

• A history of keloid scarring

• Active infection or history of herpes simplex in the treatment area

• Use of depilatories or other hair removal treatments, such as waxing, plucking, or electrolysis, within 4 weeks prior to treatment

• Hypersensitivity to hydroquinone or other bleaching agents

• Use of oral Accutane within 1 year prior to treatment

• Direct sun exposure, tanning beds, or self‑tanning products for at least 2 weeks prior to your session.

2. I have darker skin – can I still get this treatment done?

Laser hair removal treatments can be done on darker skin tones, even tanned skin. The technician will perform a test spot depending on your skin tone, to assess your reaction to the laser. They would know best what treatment parameters are most appropriate to use for your skin type.

3. How many sessions will I need to see results?

Most patients receive 6-12 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each individual person’s skin type, hair color and texture, and the area being treated.

4. How often/far apart should the treatments be?

Treatments are done 4-6 weeks apart. One treatment every 4 weeks above clavicle/collarbone; One treatment every 6 weeks below the clavicle/collarbone.

5. Do I need to do anything to prepare for the treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean and shaved one day prior to the treatment. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup on treatment are before your session, and stop using any products like retinol, exfoliants, acne medications or any acid base product that might irritate your skin 7 days before. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.

6. Can I take medications before my session?

Please inform your provider if you are taking medications, especially those that may increase skin sensitivity to light (such as certain antibiotics or acne medications). Your treatment may be resumed two weeks after your final dose of antibiotics.

7. Can I undergo laser treatment if I have a skin infection or irritation?

Please reschedule your appointment if you have: Open cuts, Skin infections, Rashes, Sunburn in the treatment area.

1. How long does a treatment session last?

It depends on treatment area —an upper lip will be much faster than both legs.

2. What does the treatment feel like?

Some clients experience only mild discomfort during the procedure. The sensation is often described as a quick snapping or warm tingling feeling on the skin — similar to a rubber band snap. Our advanced technology is designed to keep treatments as comfortable as possible.

3. Will I need to wear protective gear?

Yes. Protective eyewear will be provided to shield your eyes from the laser light during your treatment. This is a standard safety measure

AFTER THE TREATMENT

1. How will I feel after my treatment?

AFTER THE TREATMENT You may feel like you have a slight sunburn around the treatment area, but this should go away after 1-2 days at the very most. You may also see some hairs fall out more easily in the days following your treatment— this is perfectly normal. Some patients may also experience what appears to be a rash accompanied by some mild itching. This is also normal—it’s just the skin’s response. The redness and itching will subside over a few days.

2. How long will the results last and are they permanent?

It depends on how your hair grows. Some people may see laser hair removal provides long lasting hair reduction, but it does not always guarantee 100% permanent hair removal.

3. Is there downtime after the treatment?

There is no downtime. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.

4. Do I need to do anything after my treatment?

Be sure to gently clean the treated area and apply sunscreen with an SPF before going outside and avoid excessive sun exposure, hot baths, massages, swimming or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment.

5. If I got a treatment on my face, can I put makeup up on right after?

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment but make sure you put on sunscreen.
